Dell just launched a 24-hour sale of its netbook, the Mini 9. You can buy this product for paltry $199, making this model first netbook to crack the $200 barrier. Caveat of course, comes in the form of operating system, none other than Ubuntu Linux, enabling Dell to shave off 50 greenbacks.

Netebook with Ubuntu linux for 199 greenbacks - is this impressive or not?
After seeing this, there is nothing else to say but – computers just became an everyday thing even for non-tech savvy consumers.
There is no reason why grandpa or grandma should not have something as cheap as this, and staying in touch could be much cheaper than it used to… kudos to Dell.
Just passing by.Btw, you website have great content!

They’re getting really cheap in the US. Too bad it’s still at least 329EUR for the Mini 9 here in Belgium, for just 90EUR more you can get the cheapest Inspiron 15 notebook.

Well Thomas, I think we know the answer to that… if we want to get anything cheaper, we have to move to US. As simply as that
Or abandon Euro and return Deutsche Mark in Germany…

Where an I get a notebook for my son for Christmas. And an I get a bigger discount if I buy more than one?

Hi Patricia… well, you can safely buy online at dell.com and so on – there are many affordable netbooks out there. And no, unless you buy at least 20-30 pcs, you cannot exactly expect a discount.
Bear in mind that netbooks are significantly discounted computers already.
